Officiant Honorarium for your ceremony:
- Local Area Wedding: in Asheville, Arden, Fletcher, Henderson county, Buncombe county, or Brevard: $250
- Wedding outside of the local area: $300 plus Travel stipend (depending on distance, $50 minimum)
Deposit to reserve your wedding date & time: $50.
The balance is payable directly to the officiant just before the service, when we complete the "business" paperwork. It is easier for everyone to have your 2 witnesses sign the wedding license and receive the balance from the best man or groom just before the ceremony - while everyone is in "preparation mode"... rather than afterward when you are taking photos and eager to start your reception.
- Optional: Attendance by Lyte at a Rehearsal/Rehearsal Dinner: add $100. The Rehearsal Dinner is a fun time for the families to get to know each other, but the officiant's presence for an actual rehearsal is usually not necessary! Lyte can easily organize your processional with simple instructions given 30 minutes before the service.

She has participated in hundreds of weddings for couples of all ages and beliefs. "Remember that it's a celebration. Relax... show up and pay attention!" Chad served as the Officiant for weddings at all kinds of locations.... including: Unity Center, private homes, Bed & Breakfast Inns, The Grove Park Inn, Homewood, Highland Lake Inn, Crest Center, Biltmore Estate, on the beach, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, at a biker bar by the river, on a trail overlook off the Blue Ridge Parkway... "wherever and whenever love demands it." Lyte served as Minister of Music at the Unity Center in Mills River, North Carolina, from August, 1983 through January 2015, where her husband Chad O'Shea served as Minister until his death in January 2014. Under this couple's leadership, this Unity church grew from attendance of 40 to an average of 200 each Sunday, and in 2000, the church built a new 9,000 square foot facility on 21 acres. Lyte has now chosen to use her great experience in wedding ministry to serve as an Officiant. |
The Wedding Service
Originally co-written for their own wedding ceremony, this service has evolved into a warm affirmation of love and a vision of a relationship that encompasses individuality within oneness. It is spiritual in flavor, but without any heavy "religiosity". Both your conservative grandmother and your wild cousin will enjoy the wedding service. Wedding guests frequently comment on how meaningful, unique, and perfect the service was.
If you choose, the service can be adapted and you can add personal vows and/or short readings or poetry. You may also add a Unity Candle or Sand Ceremony... or elements from other religions or spiritual paths (Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Native American, Buddhist, humanist, etc.) If the couple have children, they may be included in a special Family Vow that honors the new family that is being formed. |
